Cedar Point announces big change to its locker policy for Top Thrill 2 and Siren's Curse
Cedar Point has some good news for roller coaster fans.
The Sandusky amusement park has made a reversal of sorts on one of its more controversial policies for riding its Top Thrill 2 roller coaster.
When the ride made its brief debut last season before concerns about the durability of its coaster trains were discovered, riders were required to place all personal belongings including cell phones in lockers.
Like the Steel Vengeance, riders had to walk through metal detectors.
And these lockers were not free.
Park spokesman Tony Clark announced in his blog on Cedar Point's website that free lockers will now be available for items like wallets, keys and cell phones that are restricted from the coaster.
The coaster is expected to reopen for the 2025 season.
Clark said similar free lockers will be available for riders on the new Siren's Curse tilt roller coaster that is set to open sometime during the 2025 season.
This is the first indication that like the Steel Vengeance and Top Thrill 2 coasters, riders will not be allowed to bring any personal items like wallets, keys and cell phones onto the new coaster when it opens.
The Steel Vengeance already has similar free lockers for smaller items.
Park goers with larger items like purses and backpacks will still be required to rent a locker to ride these coasters.
When is Cedar Point's opening day?
Cedar Point will kick off its 2025 season on May 3.
The park will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in early May and begin daily operations on May 15.
The last day of the summer season will be Labor Day before it begins weekend operations for the fall and Halloween season.
The park's last day of the 2025 season will be Nov 1st.
